Description
This is the garden of the Florence Griswold home in Old Lyme Conn. In the early 1900's it was owned by Miss Florence Griswold who started taking in boarders to help pay for the upkeep of the house. The first tenant was an artist who told other artist friends who came to rent, and eventually it became one of the first art colony's in Ct. This house was where American Impressionism began. I painted this plein air, which means I set up an easel and painted this scene exactly as you see it.
